Our Team

Ms. Loyce Kihungi

(MSc. Infection Control, BSc. Nursing)

Loyce is an accomplished Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) practitioner with over ten years of experience. She has significantly contributed to establishing Kenya’s national IPC program, working closely with the Ministry of Health to develop policies, guidelines, and training curricula.

A skilled national trainer and mentor, Loyce has driven quality improvement initiatives at all healthcare levels, including leading Aga Khan University Hospital to Joint Commission International accreditation in 2013 and recertification in 2016. She is a 2023 International Ambassador for the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America and actively serves in Kenya’s IPC professional organizations.

Ms. Mary Ndinda

(MPH. Epidemiology & Disease Control, BSc. Medical Laboratory Sciences)

Seasoned and results-driven public health specialist with over 15 years of extensive and credible national and international experience in infection prevention and control, health systems strengthening, and clinical research. Mary has played a key role in providing technical assistance in supporting the Ministry of Health Kenya in the establishment of the IPC program and antimicrobial resistance surveillance where she led the initiation of quality improvement process to improve IPC practices in the country and antimicrobial resistance surveillance reporting by laboratories. As a national IPC trainer and mentor, Mary has continued to provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Health in developing national IPC policy, guidelines, monitoring and evaluation framework, standard operating procedures, tools, and training curricula. Internationally, Mary provided strategic and technical guidance to the Ministry of Health Sierra Leone to review and update the national IPC strategic plan (2023-2027) and develop annual operational, monitoring and evaluation, and resource mobilization plans to facilitate the implementation of the strategic plan. Additionally, she led the review of Sierra Leone’s advanced IPC certificate course training curriculum and modules.
